I am looking forward to seeing renown photographer Michelle Valberg's work live on the 'big screen' this coming Saturday, May 4. Nothing beats a 'live' performance for those who have the opportunity to attend. From landscapes to wildlife to portraits, Michelle - also a Nikon Ambassador - is sure to inspire. A photo event such as this is a wonderful way to grow as a photographer, to learn and to be inspired by the work of fellow artists. No matter who you are, one should always be receptive to seeing the work of other artists. I have attended dozens of photo seminars over the years and they have proven invaluable to my growth as an artist.

This is the 6th Annual Event sponsored by the Manitoba Photo Events. In the past, the group has hosted other well-known Canadian artists such as Andre Gallant, Darwin Wiggett and Samantha Chrysanthou, David duChemin, Dave Brosha and Paul Zizka.

The Saturday event runs from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM with registration from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The event takes place at the SAMUEL N. COHEN AUDITORIUM of the St. Boniface Hospital at 351 Taché Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. You can purchase your ticket online or in person from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM on Saturday at the event.

Hope to see many of you there!

A Canadian Nikon Ambassador, she is well known for her outstanding photography of human portraiture as well as for her wildlife and landscape work. She owns her own studio and business in Ottawa and she travels the world leading adventure tours. Some years ago, I attended one of her seminars in Ottawa called ‘Dare to Dream’ - a celebration of Canadian women, the faces & stories of people with hiv/aids. It was a touching and inspiring program.

In Winnipeg on Saturday, May 4, 2019, Michelle will be presenting a one-day seminar in which she will discuss some of her adventures, focusing on wildlife as well as landscape. She will also talk about her philanthropy, or giving back through photography.

The 2018 'Winnipeg' calendar features my photographs from more than 30 years of exploring the City of Winnipeg since I moved here in 1985. I feel that I live in one of the most underrated Canadian cities and, over the years, I have photographed numerous architectural projects for various architectural firms as well as photographing slices of the urban environment. The calendar was 1 of 8 published by Wyman Publishing featuring my photography exclusively. Thank you kindly in advance for supporting my work! Enjoy!

With camera in hand I am an explorer. Sometimes I travel to the far reaches of this great country we call Canada discovering new locales but often I explore for new possibilities in the comfort and proximity of my own backyard. It’s important for me to create and just as important for me to create without any thoughts as to how an image might be used in the future. This personal work is important for growth as an artist and it brings much contentment. No matter what the tools are (iPhone) or what the technique being used is (ICM Intentional Camera Movement), the resulting image can be as important and fulfilling as any other. If I don’t come away with an image, the experience of being out there was enough. As Freeman Patterson said many years ago, this is simply “Photography For The Joy Of It”.
