We can now safely assume that Winnipeg's worst winter since 1898 is officially over! We just experienced the coldest and most brutal winter of the past century. But today was a markedly different day. It started off with a little morning sun which begged a nice cup of coffee outside on the patio. The afternoon saw a few showers accompanied by the most gentle of rainbows and the day culminated with clearing skies, witnessed by this photo of pink clouds framing a lone tree. Let Spring truly begin!

My bedroom drapes, normally a plain beige colour, were transformed into a tapestry the other evening as the setting sun shone through the drapes backlighting some frost that had formed on the window the previous evening as temperatures plummeted to about -27 degrees Celsius.

Remember the non-energy efficient windows? They were wonderful canvases to work on! On very cold days, I can still capture frost patterns on one of the bedroom windows. Look especially at sunrise/sunset when the contrast between warm and cool colors is quite evident.
