FlashFest, Winnipeg's Annual Photography Festival, begins this Saturday, October 1 and runs through the entire month of October. FlashFest promotes photography, mostly by Manitobans, via a series of events including photography exhibits and a Dodge+Burn Series of Lectures on October 5, 12, 19 and 26. I will be presenting the first lecture of this series called' Photography Is Not Art, or So It Seems'. The lecture series will take place at Photo Central, 957 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba from 7-8 PM.
An Opening Party is scheduled for Monday October 3rd, 2016 from 8-11pm at Forth (171 McDermot Ave). For a complete list of events, please check the FlashFest website. A printed Program of Events (sponsored by Friesens) is also available at participating venues.

A sincere "Thank you" to all who attended the opening of my new exhibition 'Prairie and Beyond'. We had a wonderful evening. I know that many of you were also very busy that evening and could not attend. It was however very busy and we stayed open an extra hour. As you can see from the attached photo, my grandson was a 'hit', making an 'impromptu' presentation of one of my books, although not the latest one!

If you haven't been to to see the current gallery exhibition entitled 'Nothing Is As It A Piers' by award winning Winnipeg photographer Joe Kerr, then you should. This is a thought provoking collection of vignettes of multiple images conjuring up feelings and emotions of social and environmental issues.
