'Beautiful Alberta' was released just a few weeks ago. During the summer of 2014, I was commissioned by Firefly to produce a coffee table book about Alberta. Although I had an extensive collection of Alberta images already in my image library from numerous trips to the province as well as having lived there for 7 years, I did not hesitate a single minute to spend 3 weeks traveling throughout Alberta in August 2014 to capture even more images. I covered the region north and south and east and west, discovering new territory all the while.
Upon my return, I selected a number of images and sent them to the publisher. Besides writing an introduction and captions to the images, I also sourced a few images from other photographers for the publisher, which include images from colleagues John Marriott and Gail Foster among a few others.
The book is available in books stores and online. On Friday evening, October 6, I will launch 'Beautiful Alberta' at McNally's in Winnipeg at 7 PM.

I am currently working on a few book projects, one of which is a book about Alberta. I moved to Edmonton in the late 70s and lived there for about seven years. It was the beginning of a 'travel bug' I caught while working with Forestry Canada. Part of my job involved extensive traveling across the Canadian Prairies, as well as the Northwest Territories and the Rocky Mountain parks in British Columbia. My time in Alberta also coincided with my burgeoning interest in photography. While I moved to Winnipeg in the mid 80s, I would return to Alberta to photograph on numerous occasions, sometimes to photograph for other books such as 'The Canadian Rockies' while at other times simply to visit family, friends or photograph for other projects. Always, I would have a camera with me! Here are a few images I hope the editors will include in this new book scheduled to be published this coming spring.

For three weeks in August I crisscrossed the province of Alberta in search of new images for an upcoming book about Alberta. In the process, I added some 9,000 kms to my trusty van which also functioned not only as my mode of transportation but also as my 'home away from home'. I already had plenty of excellent images of the province having lived and worked in Alberta for 7 years in addition to having returned dozens of times over the years. But I wanted to see some new locations I had never seen before as well as revisit others for which a good image still eluded me. I seldom pass up a great opportunity to travel and photograph!
