The 10th Anniversary (Winter 2017) issue of Outdoor Photography Canada Magazine is now at the newsstands. Congratulations to editor Roy Ramsay and the staff at OPC! Ten years ago, I began writing and illustrating a feature called 'Discovering Canada' in each issue of the magazine. With this 40th issue, I explore the northwestern region of Ontario, the Lake of the Woods area in and around Kenora that borders the eastern side of Manitoba. Each issue of the magazine features interesting and topical articles by some of Canada's finest nature and outdoor photographers ... and the images aren't too shabby either! In every issue, editor Roy Ramsay runs a profile with an interview and portfolio of images from either an aspiring or seasoned photographer. And there is much, much more too! I invite you to have a look and join us!

Photo Central, Winnipeg's premier photography store, is starting up a lecture series on various aspects of photography showcasing local, acclaimed image makers. I am always excited and supportive of new venues featuring any aspect of photography.
The first lecture of this series takes place this Friday evening (September 30th) featuring one of Canada's finest nature photographers, Dennis Fast (evidenced by the exceptional photo above). While admission is free, registrants are asked to bring a donation of either non-perishable food items for Winnipeg Harvest or a minimum $10 cash donation for Habitat for Humanity, two great humanitarian causes!
Seating is limited and you must sign up in advance at the following link:
The evening begins at at 7:00 PM sharp but registrants are asked to arrive between 6:30 and 6:50 PM so that the presentation can begin on time. Photo Central is situated at 957 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba, across the street from DeLucca's.
Let's support photography in Winnipeg!
I look forward to returning this summer to conduct another workshop at the Niagara School of Imaging in Ste. Catharines, Ontario. 'Making A Living As A Nature Photographer' runs from August 21 to August 25 and will explore the 'ins and outs' of a working nature photographer's life. Check the web site for full details about the course.
'The Canadian Gallery' was recently launched in Winnipeg, Manitoba to showcase my premiere collection of fine art photographs. A companion, online gallery was also launched which features the complete collection. Corporate art buyers, art collectors and anyone interested in premium fine art photographs can browse the collection based on themes. Each image is offered in one of three editions: an open edition, a limited edition and a signature edition.

What a fantastic group I had this past August at the Niagara School of Imaging in Ste. Catharines, Ontario. I could not have hoped for a better group of participants as they were all were very helpful and eager to share with others - it felt as if we had all known each other for years. You can tell from the class photo taken on the shore of Beaverdams Creek, at the historic Morningstar Mill a few miles past Brock University where the school takes place every year.
