Cancer is everywhere and we have all likely been touched by it. Many of us have our own personal stories. For me, cancer has been part of my family since the age of five, having lost both my parents, a grandmother, many uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours since then. Fortunately, great strides have been made in the battle against cancer during this last decade which has given many of us much hope.
This afternoon, I went to see 'Cancer Crossing' at the Blankstein Gallery in the Millennium Library in Winnipeg. This is a pre-launch exhibition for the e-book which is scheduled to be published in the near future. I look forward to seeing the e-book and hopefully a hard copy will also follow.
I was quite impressed with the large black & white photographs of those who shared their stories with us. The photographer(s) captured very personal moments and I found the images quite expressive. The stories are compelling and brought back a lot of memories of both pain and joy. I highly recommend this exhibition of fine black & white photographs which runs from March 1-31, 2014.

Last Friday, I opened 'Natural Reflections', an exhibition of 15 fine art prints at Tangled Tree Framing & Gifts in Kenora. I really enjoyed chatting with folks about the works and my experiences making those images. It was particularly enchanting to chat with a very young girl about 'abstract art'. It's always encouraging to meet kids that are interested in art! The show will run from October 11 to November 9.
Next Friday, October 25, I will be in town again for a mid-show opening to coincide with 'Word On The Water' Book Festival from Oct. 25-27. I will be presenting on two seperate occasions on Saturday as well as leading a one-day photo workshop on Sunday.
