CBC Radio-Canada will be interviewing me tomorrow (Saturday) starting around 9:10 in the morning. I will be chatting with Suzanne Kennelly about the new book 'Prairie and Beyond' as well as about my process and what attracts me to do what I do. The interview will be heard across Western and Northern Canada on the AM station at 10.50 or the FM station at 90.5 on your dial. This will be great practice to tune your ear to the French language!

When traveling, it's not always possible to be at a specific location at a certain time. When the light is golden and the sun will soon set below the horizon, I'm always anxious to discover a great location to make a few last images. Often I don't find one and it's frustrating to be sure. However, on occasion, beauty reveals itself just around the corner. This boreal forest reflected in the Lily Pond in the Whiteshell was such an instance. In another week or so, the larches nearby will hopefully turn a bright orange color and offer additional photographic opportunities, or simply provide a visual feast for those lucky enough to witness the beauty.

Thank you, to Mike Grandmaison and True Blue Spirit magazine, for the gorgeous coffee table book I recently won in the on-line subscriber draw of Prairie and Beyond. I also want to thank the publisher, Turnstone Press, for their contribution of the book. In addition to my gratitude, I am sending the following review so that your readers and his fans can know more about the book, because I was so impressed by it. The photos truly blur the distinction between photography and art, and the book touched me emotionally in surprising and delightful ways.

I observed three red fox kits for about an hour one early morning. While mother and the kits were aware of our presence, the kits continued to romp around, paying little attention to us. I captured this intimate moment of mom and one of the kits before it dashed away to chase its other siblings once again. I caught this image with the equivalent of a 630mm lens fitted to a tripod-mounted camera (300mm lens with a 1.4 teleconverter on a cropped sensor). You don't always need the fastest and most expensive lenses. I find this combination very flexible albeit a little slower than the fastest lenses.
