Recently I received samples of the new 2019 calendars in which my photographs are featured exclusively in the calendars. One of these calendars is the 2019 'Canada in Black & White' by Wyman Publications. I have been working with these folks for over 20 years and they have always produced some of the finest Canadian calendars.

The cover image was selected from my extensive library of images produced over the last 40 years; these images form the basis of my stock photography business. Created in 2011 at Herbert Lake in Banff National Park, the original color image was previously published a few times as a stock image in other calendars, etc. A couple of years ago, I converted the image to Black & White and, since then, it has gained a new life. I have always loved the Black & White genre and, in the coming years, I plan to produce a growing portfolio of this genre. The Black & White version was also used as a double-page spread in my article A Black and White Primer published last year by Outdoor Photography Canada Magazine. The beauty of stock nature photographs is that they can live on forever! I have recently published images produced 40 years ago and they look just as fresh as my recent images.

Stock photography has evolved significantly over the last 30-40 years and the business certainly has changed much too, particularly in the last 5-10 years. Stock photography is one of the topics I will be speaking on at the upcoming 'The Business of Fine Art Photography Symposium' in Calgary, Alberta from September 24-27, 2018. Three other excellent Master Photographers will join me to share their passion and love of photography, including Kristian Bogner (Canmore, AB), Chris Collacott (Vancouver, BC and Tula Edmunds (Calgary, AB). Hope to see some of you there.
