Seminar To Feature Canadian Photographers Freeman Patterson, Dennis Fast, Mike Grandmaison and more ....
Mike Grandmaison, September 02, 2014 at 7:06 PM

I look forward to sharing the stage once again with Freeman Patterson, Dennis Fast and other colleagues in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 1 and 2, 2014. 'Frame by Frame' will feature a host of photographers sharing their latest images. While some of us presented in Regina two years ago, this seminar will feature all NEW programs. I have always maintained that seminars are an excellent venue for instruction and inspiration at a nominal fee. In the past I personally have been inspired at seminars by such photography greats as Ernst Haas, Freeman Patterson, Frans Lanting, John Shaw, Paul Caponigro, Pat O'Hara, John Netherton, Daryl Benson, Darwin Wiggett, Craig Richards, Andre Gallant, George Tice, Jim Divitale, Nick Vedros and .... just too many to list! Whenever I have the chance to attend a photo seminar, I seldom miss the opportunity.

Freeman Patterson, arguably Canada's finest photographic artist and one of the world's fine photographers, is also an internationally recognized teacher, author and philosopher. His photo workshops in Shampers Bluff, NB are legendary and he will present a program based on his latest book, 'EMBRACING CREATION'. The book was produced in conjunction with a major retrospective exhibition of his life and work and it explores the artist’s extraordinary creative vision over his lifetime. The exhibition was organized by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery which exhibited some 113 large format prints in Frederiction, NB from September 29, 2013 to January 12, 2014. Had I not had a previous engagement, I would have been there for the opening Gala last October! I did however get a signed copy of 'Embracing Creation', a very fine book and a 'must have' for any serious photographer's library. I just browsed the book again this evening and it brings me great joy every time. I guess you know by now that I LOVE books!

Dennis Fast, a close friend and colleague, is one this country's fine nature photographers. I have been fortunate to have seen his work nearly once a month for the last 30 years during our monthly 'photo critiques'. In my humble opinion, Dennis creates the finest images of polar bears ...period! His work has been published internationally and he recently published a children's book called 'Princess' which he will also have on sale at the seminar. I look forward to seeing his presentation 'WILDLIFE AS I SEE IT'.

I will also present a new program called 'MEDITATIONS'. However, to find out more about it, you will have to come to Regina to see it along with all the other programs!
