Pixels 2.1 Gallery Brings Local Experts Together to Discuss Fine Art Photography

What makes a particular photograph a work of art? This is an age old question that will be tackled once more by a panel of very distinguished guests this coming Wednesday at Pixels 2.1 Gallery in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The panel of art gallery curators, critics and fine art photographers, most of whom are renown internationally, will draw from a varied background and experience to discuss various aspects of fine art photography.

'Photography is the bastard child of the art world', art curator Cortia Worth once stated. While things have improved somewhat in accepting photography as an art form, it is still very much absent in most art galleries in Canada. I'm particularly interested in discussing why the 'color landscape' genre appears to be shunned by the Canadian art establishment, even if the general public and photographers in general are quite accepting of it. It is such a drastic contrast to the situation in the United States where the landscape genre has a long and rich history in the fine arts.

If you are interested in discussing and sharing your ideas with this art panel, come and join us on Wednesday, September 7 at 6 PM, starting with a BBQ Roast Pork Dinner at the Winnipeg Free Press Café, 237 McDermot Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The event then continues a block down the streat to Pixels 2.1 Gallery for the panel discussion.
